In this loving parody of the Grimm Brothers’ fairy tale The Twelve Huntsmen, a princess with a largely worthless magical gift battles a talking lion, a dozen identical masked heroes, and terrible monsters in an attempt to save a kingdom—and herself.

Princess Melilot is the target of a murderous plot. Unfortunately, this is typical.

Melilot is tired of her controlling stepmother ordering her on perilous adventures. Particularly when her more magically gifted stepsisters are always the ones who have to save her. She has now been ordered to wed a monarch she has never met.

On her way to meet her future husband, she is attacked by repulsive spider-wolves and is saved once more, but this time by twelve masked huntsmen who look remarkably alike. She soon faces a talking lion that poses confusing gender tests, almost continual attempts on her life, and a monarch who is unable to identify his true love when she puts on pants. In the meantime, she must resist her increasing interest in her fiancé’s incredibly beautiful sister as well as one of the huntsmen.

Kingdoms will fall if Melilot is unable to solve the secrets and save herself from danger. Even worse, she might marry someone she does not love.
